End Of The Year Apron '10

The year has come to an end...and to complete my last apron for the year, I decided to make this one extra special. I was inspired by reading the last clothing transformation from New Dress A Day by Marissa. For 365 days with $365 dollars to spend in a year, she bought $1 garments every day and transformed them into a completely new outfit. Amazing! I've been reading her blog for the past 9 months and when I read her last clothing transformation, I thought I do the same but with an apron...

Yellow There!

This Christmas has been an "Apron Season" in my household. This Yellow There! beauty was a gift for my moms' really good friend. My mom asked me if I could make, Rosy, an apron for Christmas in her favorite color: YELLOW. So off I went and managed to sew one more apron for holidays...

Toy Soldiers

I received my Holiday Apron from the apron swap hosted by Sue at Country Pleasures. This apron came from Shawnee from Shawnee's Tangled Tales. Such a beautiful apron! It came with tuck-ins but didn't get a chance to take a picture of them, but it was a snowflake ornament, mints, peppermint shower gel, and 2 chocolate spoon dips. Awe, so yummy!

10 Days Of Christmas

'Tis the season...and aprons are on my "gift giving" list for this year. And with that said, Adriana, asked me for "10" aprons to gift to her friends AND she would pay me for them! I was like "WOW"! Of course!!! I either sew aprons for myself or give them away, but this time I was actually getting compensated for "10" aprons...I was extremely excited.

Holiday Tea

Oh my...December is an overwhelming month in our household...birthdays, holiday parties, Christmas shopping, etc. I have several projects (aprons, of course!) that I'm working on AND I just found out that my kids Principal will no longer be at there school AND her last day is this Friday!!!! The time has come for her to move on but she will be working within the school district. My kids are so sad that she's leaving.

Sweet Serendipity Cakes

Awhile back, a friend of mine took some baking classes and found out she loved baking. One word to describe her cakes...AMAZING! She started up a Facebook Fan Page called Sweet Serendipity Cakes. Check out her colorful cakes and cupcakes.

Sugar and Spice

A good friend of mine that I've known since are kids started school together is having a birthday this week. She found out about the National Tie One On aprons I made for Thanksgiving and told me that she wanted one. Well, since I had already chosen the three apron receivers, I thought I make her one as a birthday gift.

Santa's Reindeer

Oh my!!! I received my Holiday apron yesterday from my fellow swap partner, Margaret. Love it? Uh, yeah! Such cute Reindeer with Christmas trees and snowflakes all around. And two knitted pot holders were added as tuck-ins:

Candy Cane

Yes, this month has been super busy and I've been super busy sewing aprons like crazy...I finished the 3 aprons I had going on for Thanksgiving, a Holiday Swap apron, my own Thanksgiving apron, and now just completed my last apron for another Holiday Swap...once again, the host was Sue at Country Pleasures. I had fun in the Fall Apron Swap and decided to give this one a try. And this is what I used for the holiday apron:

Poinsettias, Garlands, & Mistletoes, Oh My!

Oh boy, where do I start...I loved, loved, loved doing this apron for my fellow apron swap partner. As you can see, I had trouble waiting patiently to avoid posting this early. I truly wanted this to be a surprise but I just couldn't resist, Sorry!!!! I didn't want to let go of this apron...but I knew it was going to be enjoyed elsewhere.

Thankful!

We are back from a tummy-filled Thanksgiving feast that took place at my sister-in-law's out in the desert. We had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, green-bean casserole and let's not forget the pumpkin pie...yum! We ate and ate and ate and ate till we couldn't eat anymore, literally, true story!

National Tie One On Day 2010

This month has been one busy month...I like busy! I'm in two Holiday Apron Swaps this month and if that's not enough, I've decided to participate in the National Tie One On Day for Thanksgiving. Here's how it works:

On the day before Thanksgiving, which this month it's the 24th, you give 3 different people (neighbor, relative, friend, or someone you don't know) a loaf of bread wrapped in an apron with a prayer or note tucked in the pocket. It's a kind gesture and it will make someones day. Is this great or what?

Laker Princess

Lakers, Lakers, Lakers...yes, basketball season has started! Home Runs are over and Slam Dunks are beginning.

Since I've been sewing everyone an apron, my daughter has been patiently wanting one. So I decided to make her a Laker themed apron since she is a Laker Fan...Kobe & Sasha are her favorite players.

BOO!

What a Spooktacular day it was yesterday! Busy, busy, busy...trying to get things done a day before Halloween. I received a Halloween apron from one of the swaps I participated in but I wanted to make one of my very own. I found the perfect fabrics for my apron and as an added bonus, I found a fabulous $1.00 find at Target...

Groovy Waves

Today was Day 3 of an insane, torturous, heart pumping work-out! I decided to join my future sis-in-law, Adriana, to work-out using the P90X as our Personal Trainer...let me tell you, it kicked my butt! My body is so sore that every movement I make is painful! I forgot how good it feels after exercising...it gives me more energy...and with that said, here's the fabric I used to make a new style apron...

Tea Time

My brothers future mother-in-law is celebrating a birthday this month. Irene is such a hardworking lady and is always sending us delicious food with no reason behind it other than she's thinking of us. She's so sweet. I thought of making her a birthday apron and asked Adriana (her daughter) about her moms favorite colors...Pastels it is. I went fabric shopping on Friday and found the perfect fabric...it reminded me of a Tea House...

Spider Witch

I participated in a Fall Apron Swap hosted by Sue at Country Pleasures and had the pleasure to be paired up with Marcel over at Aunt Pitty Pats. If you read my Jack-O-Lantern post, that was the apron I made for Marcel. By the way, she loved it and the goodies that came with it! I have to admit, I was nervous sewing and sending out the apron being that it was my first swap that I was participating in. So I was relieved when I read Marcel's email...

Rainy Day

At the beginning of this week it was raining cats and dogs...it was starting to feel like fall but now we're heading to summer temperatures once again! That's Southern California weather for you...Well, being that I don't enjoy driving in the rain, I had to resort to looking through my fabric stash and see what I could come up with. It was perfect weather for sewing. Aaaahhhh, the kids at school, a fresh cup of coffee, my second BFF aka my sewing machine (coffee is my #1, but I'm sure you knew that already!) and fabric ready to be transformed into an apron.

National Coffee Day!

I am a Coffee Addict! To my surprise, I just found out yesterday that September 29th is National Coffee Day! Oh my...and why didn't I know this before? I did have my cup of Joe in the morning like usual. And yesterday evening I made a special trip to buy a pie and have some coffee with it...

Jack-O-Lantern

I participated in the Fall Apron Swap over at Country Pleasures by Sue. It was so hard for me to be patient on NOT posting this sooner, since I didn't want to ruin the surprise to my fellow Apron Swap Partner. Halloween was the chosen theme for this apron and boy did I have fun sewing this! I love Halloween, so I was really excited on making this apron. And after seeing the final product...I wanted to keep it, but I knew it had to be sent to it's new owner...

Wipes In Disguise

Last week, my brother's girlfriend asked me if I could be creative and disguise some baby wipe containers for a baby shower gift she needed. And of course I said "Sure"! Haven't done it before but there's always a first...so I couldn't just make them and not blog about them...

Warm Apple Cider

I had fun participating in The Circus theme over at Tie One On. Great Circus themed aprons by all the participants and lots of thanks for the kind comments given to my Circus apron. The new theme this time is Apple Cider...mmm, warm apple cider! Totally fits the Fall Season...fall colors and lots of red came to mind on this apron. And here's what I came up with...

What About Me?

I received a complaint from a family member when she found out I had made aprons to other fellow family members. Grandma Olga is my kids Great-Grandmother who is loved by her 7 kids, 20+ grandkids, and 30+ great-grandkids. When she found out about Connie's apron, she said: What about me? I found the perfect pattern for her very own apron...

Pretty In Pink

My friends daughter is turning "1" this week and her party is this weekend. Amanda is one of my few friends that loves to bake. She's obsessed with cupcakes...to the point where she drives out to L.A. to stand in line for over an hour to get a cupcake from Sprinkles. Crazy! Her craziness was my inspiration to making her daughter, Baby Isla, her very first apron...

The Circus

I came across a blog a few days ago by Amy called Tie One On and she posted an apron theme: The Circus. I was interested in participating, but I wasn't sure if I would meet the deadline (September 5th) and this would actually be my first apron submission to participate in winning a Book Giveaway. So I said "What the heck!! Why not, right?" And so I did! I wanted this to be colorful since bright colors was the first thing that came to mind.

ABC's

My kids started school this week. My son in Kinder and my daughter in Second grade...wow, how time flies. Now that they're both in school, I have time to do chores, laundry, grocery shopping, etc., etc. with no hurry! I will miss my summer of: "mom, mom, MOM!", "mom, I'm hungry!", "mom, I'm thirsty!", "mom, I'm hungry!" again, "mom, she hit me!", "mom, he hit me!" and I could just go on and on and on...but I do miss my Stinkers!

The Crunchy Kitchen

This particular apron that I made was for my Foodie sister-in-law over at The Crunchy Kitchen. She cooks mostly vegan and has her own foodie blog with some delicious recipes. Why not make her an apron that represents her, right?

Butterfly Blues

I heard through the grape vine that grandma has been wanting an apron. My daughter helped me this time pick out the pattern for grandma's apron. In her words "grandma is going to just love this beautiful apron with butterflies"! So off I went on cutting, pressing, pinning, and sewing...

Go Fish

We're going out of town to visit my lovely sister-in-law, Audra and the kids. She lives out in the desert...luckily she has a pool! My kids are looking forward to spending the night and show off their swimming skills since they've been taking swimming lessons this summer. With that said, fishes were my inspiration to making her an apron. She is an outstanding mother and her meals and snacks have to be gluten-free and home-made since her kids are highly allergic to a lot of foods.

Mouse In My Pocket

Saturday morning breakfast at our household is a big deal. That's a day that we're all home in morning and get to eat breakfast together. I work Sunday mornings, so usually I'm out the door with coffee, of course! Since I was thinking on making some egg and bacon quesadillas for breakfast, I sewed together the perfect apron a few days ago to go with my morning cooking...a mouse themed apron!

Girly Paisley

A very good friend of mine that I've known since elementary is getting married in a couple of weeks and her bridal shower is this Saturday. I thought of the perfect gift to give her since she "wowed" her guests (that's including myself) at her house-warming party with a German chocolate cake that she baked! It was good...but I scraped the coconut off the cake since I don't like coconut but the cake itself was good. Not sure if she noticed that I did that. So back to the perfect gift, I decided to make her an apron that matched her wedding invitations:

Mint-N-Chip

Being that we're in a heat wave in Southern California, I figured why not make an apron that is refreshing...and so I came up with this apron that I call Mint-N-Chip:
